Park’s History

The park’s history as a quarry influenced the project with its natural resources. The limestone from this site not only contributed to San Antonio’s older construction hundreds of years ago but also inspired the construction of this project. Locally sourced materials, including limestone, and lumber were used throughout the design, honoring the site’s geological and cultural identity.

San Pedro Springs has long been a vital part of the community. Fed by a natural spring, the park was central to life in early San Antonio, with its acequia system serving as a crucial water source for agriculture and settlement. The project reflects on that sense of community and tradition, drawing from the park’s historical importance as a community hub and adapting it for modern needs.
